Scammed by Ameristar Roofing

I received a quote yesterday from this company for replace an estimated 20-25 shingles missing off of my room. I was first told that I should let this guy tarp 3/4 of my roof. This way the ins. co. would replace my entire roof because they wouldn't go to the trouble of ripping up the tarp and looking underneath it. I was told this would be at a cost of $400 but that the invoice would be writting for $1000 so I could give this invoice to my insurance company. I asked just for a quote to replace the missing shingles. I was quoted $1600. 15 minutes later a more reputable company came to give me an estimate for replacing the shingles. I was quoted a price of $300 but that if I would allow them to place a sign in my yard advertising their company, they would only charge me $150. As you can guess, I have a sign in my yard. Ameristar should be taken out of business. Shame on you Ameristar. I will pass this little bit of info. on to my insurance agent as well as the price gouging hotline.
